Listen: Erykah Badu shares new song in 'The Sound of Green' mix
NPR Music / YouTube

Erykah Badu has some new music for the Sound of Color series at NTS. Her new mix was called "The Sound of Green" and fans can hear the music at She even included a new song, and to skip ahead to the song itself, it is at the 1:05:04 mark. Be warned though, that anyone in the United States is only allowed three playbacks of the mix.

This is a big deal for Badu fans, as she has not released a studio album since 2010's New Ameryhah Part Two and her last official release came in 2015 with the mixtape But You Can't Use My Phone. She also hasn't had an official world tour since 2010.

With that said, Erykah Badu is not a normal musician and doesn't seem to care much for the way the music industry normally operates. Instead, she releases random songs like this and appears mostly at festivals while also making media appearances. The music she released today, with no fanfare, is par for course for the legendary singer.

Badu recorded the mix in London at online radio station NTS and it ended up as a two-hour mix. She dedicated it to jazz trumpeter Roy Hargrove, who passed away this past weekend. In the middle of "The Sound of Green" mix, she even released the brand-new song, which she recorded with the Cannabinoids from Dallas.

While Erykah Badu rarely tours, she does have a pair of shows coming up at the end of the year in California and AXS has tickets to both shows. On Dec. 27, she will play The Novo by Microsoft in Los Angeles (Tickets) and on Dec. 28, she plays The Warfield in San Francisco (Tickets).
