Pop singer-songwriter Julia Michaels premiered her debut single "Issues" on Jan. 12. The woman responsible for many hits by today's pop stars is ready to put her name out there.

Michaels along with former Semi Precious Weapons' frontman Justin Tranter have written hit songs for Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Britney Spears and countless other singers. After lending her voice to the biggest pop stars, Julia is now telling her own story with "Issues," her first major solo release.

Michaels penned "Issues" with Tranter and pop producers Benny Blanco and Stargate. Her light vocals seem to tiptoe across the track's stately strings. Lyrically, she masterfully weaves life struggles into a little love story. "Yeah, I got issues and one of them is how bad I need you," Julia sings among the underlying bass. At a time when people are pushing for the destigmatization of mental health and embracing their imperfections, "Issues" couldn't be more timely of a release. Michaels brings her "poorly wired circuit" self to the forefront of this bold and beautifully broken ballad.

"Issues" is now available on iTunes and Apple Music. No word yet on when Michaels' debut album is expected to follow.
