J. Cole is creating buzz with his new music video release, “Album of the Year.” Through his lyrical performance, he introduces millennial fans to the art of freestyle, the kind of style that represents the origins of hip-hop that emerged in retro poetry lounges. His lyrics thrust the power of positivity and the significance of social consciousness. He drops lyrical wisdom above a solid hip-hop beat created from Nas and Bravehearts' “Oochie Wally.”
Cole makes a subtle call to action to listeners to embrace the power of education and communication through the lyrics. Simon David directed the video for “Album of the Year” with Cole featured front and center throughout the freestyle video. His new track and video dropped with the release of his new album KOD. In addition, he is getting ready for a KOD tour date in Las Vegas at the T-Mobile Arena on Sept. 7. Cole will perform with Young Thug, Jaden Smith, Earth Gang and Kill Edward.
