Retro arcade sci-fi takes the wheel in Muse’s brand new single for “The Dark Side,” one of the tracks set to appear on their upcoming album, Simulation Theory. The upcoming release was announced on Thursday morning along with the arrival of “The Dark Side” and its thrillingly retro music video, which can be watched in full above. The album will be the British rock band’s first studio project since 2015’s chart-topping Drones, and looks to be filled with an abundance of sci-fi themed music with titles ranging from “Algorithm” and “Blockades” to more ominous names like “The Void” and “The Dark Side.” Simulation Theory is scheduled to arrive on Nov. 9 on Warner Bros. Records.

The full track listing and retro-themed album artwork for Simulation Theory can be seen below. While the Kyle Lambert-designed album art certainly pays tribute to sci-fi movie posters of the 1980s, the video for “The Dark Side” is just as thrilling as a motorcycle fight scene from “TRON.” It’s also worth noting that Lambert was the man in charge of designing the posters for “Stranger Things” as well as “Jurassic Park,” according to Consequence of Sound. A Super Deluxe version of the album will also include cover art developed by Paul Shipper, who has designed artwork for recent sci-fi adventure blockbusters like “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and “Avengers: Infinity War.

“The Dark Side” follows the previously shared “Thought Contagion,” “Dig Down” and “Something Human.” From start to finish, "The Dark Side" is filled with the kind of production that any Muse fan would want in terms of the band staying true to their core sound of space rock-themed guitar riffs and powerful rhythm sections. The video sticks close to the album’s overall adventurous theme, as guitarist/singer Matt Bellamy can be seen speeding away from a terrifying monster and across neon-lit landscapes in his stylish red sports car.

Simulation Theory will be released in three different listening formats when it arrives this fall. The standard version will include all 11 tracks listed below, while a Deluxe Version will feature 16 tracks, and the Super Deluxe version going even further with a total of 21 songs. According to the report, the expanded Super Deluxe track listing will include acoustic, live and gospel versions of their music, while the UCLA Bruin Marching Band can be heard playing on “Pressure.
