Country rocker Neil Young, with great sadness, paid tribute to his late ex-wife Pegi Young following her death on Jan. 1. Pegi Young, who co-founded the Bridge School and released her own music, passed away after a year-long battle with cancer. It was confirmed by the musician's Facebook account that she was surrounded by family and friends and asked that privacy is respected.
Neil Young wrote via his website, "Thanks, Pegi, for being a wonderful mother to our children. You live inside of them and the many you have touched."
In addition, Young also posted lyrics to the song "Such a Woman," one that was inspired by his then wife. "You are such a woman to me/ And I love you/ Our love will live/ Until the end of time/ No one else can kill me like you do/ No one else can fill me like you do/ And no, no one else can feel our pain/ Love is a healer/ And I love you," the 1992 song from Harvest Moon reads.
Neil Young filed for divorce in July 2014 after the couple wed in 1978. The couple met each other in 1974 when Pegi Young was working as a waitress near his property. The story can be heard on the 1992 song "Unknown Legend," also on Harvest Moon. They had two children together—Amber and Ben.
