The indie electronica duo known as Sylvan Esso continue to power their way to becoming a dominant force in the electronic and indie-pop world. Thanks to the catchy beats (which sound like they come from TRON’s musical landscape) courtesy of Nick Sanborn to go along with the angelic but somewhat hypnotizing vocals provided by fellow North Carolina native Amelia Meath, Sylvan Esso look to build on the foundation they've been setting over the last three years in hopes of taking their careers to the next level with an upcoming sophomore LP in the very near future.
On Thursday, the band released “Kick Jump Twist,” which can be heard below, and follows the previous release of “Radio” back in September as the second single from their upcoming album. In addition to being able to hear the two new songs wherever music can be streamed, the band has also released the first two singles on 12” vinyl via Lomo Vista/Concord/Caroline International today, November 18.
Using what sounds like sound samples out of a Super Mario Bros. universe, “Kick Jump Twist” offers a more lively, uptempo feel compared to the smoother and more seductive rhythms you hear in “Radio.”
Both songs offer a fresh first taste of what fans can expect from their upcoming album, which has yet to receive an official title or release date. Whenever it does come out, expect the new songs to receive plenty of love across the SoundCloud remix circuit, as well as being performed plenty of times across the festival landscape next summer.
