On Aug. 10, R&B star Moses Sumney released a new song titled “Quarrel” and it is utterly stunning. Defying easy categorization, the near seven-minute opus incorporates elements of neo soul, electronica and trip hop is a way that is wholly original. To be somewhat reductive, the track sounds like a fusion D’Angelo’s recent output and mid-period Radiohead.
“Quarrel” is the first single from Sumney’s upcoming debut album, Aromanticism. Intriguingly, Sumney’s debut record will focus on the topic loveless and the nature of romance in the 21st century.
Music fans who wish to experience Sumney’s music live and in person can do so this fall as the singer-songwriter is touring the world in support of Aromanticism. Sumney will be performing at venues in San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Minneapolis, Chicago, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Houston and Cambridge, Mass.’s on The Sinclair. Tickets for these sure to be life-changing shows are on sale now.
