Lorde announces vinyl and deluxe edition release of ‘Melodrama’

Lorde returned to the top of the mainstream music mountain earlier this year with the release of her highly anticipated sophomore album Melodrama. The album, which was produced by Bleachers’ Jack Antonoff, would go on to peak at No. 1 on Billboard’s 200 Album Sales chart, giving the young New Zealand singer her first number one album in the U.S., in addition to providing her with some new material for the handful of major music festivals she performed at throughout the spring and summer. Six months and two days following its initial release, it appears Melodrama will be arriving on vinyl for the first time this spring.

Announced on Monday, a standard and Deluxe Version of Melodrama are now available for purchase on Lorde’s website. Fans can pre-order both LP versions of the album as of Monday afternoon, but shouldn’t expect them to be shipped out until “on or around street date, April 6.” As seen in the photos below, the $40 Deluxe Edition of the LP will include a 180 gram translucent royal blue vinyl and a bi-fold lyric booklet with 6 double sided photo inserts, which according to Lorde, are perfect “for ur walls/life.”

“The production thing was a big thing for me on this record,” the 21-year-old mentioned in an interview back in the spring. “I’m a producer on every song, and ["Green Light"] in particular took a long time to sort of craft what it was and my role as a producer is I’m an editor. I’ll pull that away or push that forward, and when I listen to this it’s sort of cool for me, like, ‘Oh god that’s what I can do now!’”

Lorde announced a huge run of North American arena tour dates earlier this fall. For the upcoming concert trek, she’ll be joined throughout the run by artists including Run The Jewels, Mitski and Tove Styrke as support. Tickets for select shows on the spring tour are on sale now, and can be purchased by clicking here.
