As music fans flock to the Palm Springs area of southern California over the next few days for weekend one of Coachella, another music event is set to take over the desert oasis late next week. The upcoming Latin music event known as Chella: Celebrando la comunidad (Celebrating the community) will take place at the Riverside County Fairgrounds in Indio, Calif. next Thursday, April 19, as an artistic celebration for those who call Coachella Desert Valley their home. The one-day event will take place just a few blocks up the road from Empire Polo Club where both weekends of Coachella will take place in the weekends surrounding Chella.
Goldenvoice has recruited Cumbia outfit Los Ángeles Azules to headline Chella, with Cuco, Helado Negro and hometown Coachella Valley band, Ocho Ojos are also set to perform. Fans should be quick to recognize Los Ángeles Azules’ name, as they’re also scheduled to perform at Coachella’s main stage on Friday afternoon of both weekends of the festival. For Coachella attendees who may be facing schedule conflicts to see the band, Chella will be the perfect chance to catch the Mexican Cumbia band during the more intimate concert aimed towards fans in the local community.
Anyone attending Coachella this year should also recognize that the festival organizers have done a fantastic job of booking artists who’ll fill the air with an abundance of Latin flavor. Helado Negro will also be performing at both Fridays of the festival, in addition to Latin-based acts Señor Kino, Kali Uchis and Buscabulla. Yes, the ease and music spirit of South and Central America will be all around the southern California area over the next few weekends, so don’t miss out on getting tickets to this year’s Chella event by clicking here.
Fans who won’t be making it to either weekend of Coachella to catch Helado Negro and company can tune into select performances from the event’s YouTube livestream.
