Mac DeMarco to headline Royal Oak Music Theatre

Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Mac DeMarco will headline the Royal Oak Music Theatre on Sunday, May 14 at 7 p.m. with special guests Tonstartssbandht and Stef Chura.

DeMarco, who will be joined by his four-piece backing band, is touring in support of his recently released third studio long-player, This Old Dog. The album, released back on May 5 via Captured Tracks, was preceded by four singles: “My Old Man,” “This Old Dog,” “On the Level,” and “One More Love Song.”

Salad Days, the singer-songwriter’s sophomore studio album, was released in April 2014 through Captured Tracks. Debuting at No. 30 on the Billboard 200, Salad Days was anchored by the singles “Passing Out Pieces” and “Brother”

DeMarco released his debut LP, 2, in October 2012 via Captured Tracks. The album, anchored by lead single "My Kind of Woman,” landed at No. 26 on Billboard’s Top Heatseekers Albums chart.

Also on the bill is sibling noise rock duo Tonstartssbandht. The genre-bending guitar-and-drum duo released their first full-length, Sorcerer, via Mexican Summer back in March. Stand out tracks include “Breath,” “Sorcerer,” and “Opening.”

Michigan-based indie rock singer-songwriter Stef Chura will serve as opening act. Chura, who is influenced by ‘90s alternative/indie rock and folk-rock of the ‘60s and ‘70s, released her debut LP, Messes, back in January via Urinal Cake Records. The album, recorded with engineer Fred Thomas, features the lead single “Slow Motion.” Additional stand out tracks include “Faded Heart,” “You,” “Spotted Gold,” and “Becoming Shadows.”
