Madonna has confirmed via social media that she has adopted twin girls from Malawi. The confirmation comes after Malawian officials reported that the singer had been given permission by the Malawian high court to adopt the twins, according to The Guardian. The 4-year old girls’ names are Stella and Esther and they were adopted from the Home of Hope orphanage near the western border with Zambia in the town of Mchinji. Madonna had this to say in an Instagram post.

"I can officially confirm I have completed the process of adopting twin sisters from Malawi and am overjoyed that they are now part of our family. I am deeply grateful to all those in Malawi who helped make this possible, and I ask the media please to respect our privacy during this transitional time. Thank you also to my friends, family and my very large team for all your support and Love!"

Madonna has two other children she adopted from Malawi. In 2006 she adopted son David Banda—who is from near where the twins were adopted—and daughter Mercy James in 2009. Stella and Ester will join David, Mercy, Rocco and Lourdes. We wish Madonna and family the best!
