A new month is less than a week away and that means a new set of free games for Xbox Live Gold members. As usual, the games include two titles for the Xbox One and two from the Xbox 360, however, all titles are playable on the One due to backwards compatibility. This month's games include horror, FPS, RPG and a "side-scrolling shoot 'em up."
Starting on the first of the month, both Layers of Fear and Borderlands 2 will be available. Layers of Fear is a 2016 "psychedelic" walk through horror game from Polish developer Bloober Team. The game has the player exploring a Victorian house as the protagonist, an artist with rapidly disintegrating sanity. The game is available for free download from March 1 to 31. The 2012 second installment to the Borderlands series is going to be accessible from March 1 through March 15.
From March 16 to April 15, multiplayer FPS Evolve is available for download. The game plays with the hunter genre giving the prey strength to fight back. 2005 PopCap Games release Heavy Weapon will also be available during the second half of the month from March 16 through to the last of the month. Heavy Weapon is the most old-school arcade-style game of the bunch and plays as a side-scrolling shooter.
February's free Games with Gold included Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime, Monkey Island 2: SE, Project Cars and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. The last two of those are still available as of the publishing of this article. Project Cars is available until March 15 and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is available until Feb. 28.
