Mariah Carey's The Butterfly Returns residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas is being extended through 2019, with specific dates announced for Feb. 13 through Feb. 21. Pre-sales for the February 2019 residency shows begin Aug. 28 at 10 a.m. PT, while tickets go on sale to the general public on Aug. 31 at 10 a.m. PT.
Carey's first Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace was #1 to Infinity, which lasted from 2015 to 2107. The entire #1 to Infinity set list consisted of her No. 1 hits. For The Butterfly Returns residency, which Carey began on July 5, she has been performing songs from all of her albums except for Charmbracelet and Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel. However, Carey told People that she plans to change the residency's set list for the 2019 shows. "A lot of the fans who have come out to see it were really happy having a little more diversity. I want to make it really impromptu and surprise the people who have come out again and again to see the show."
Carey also commented in the interview about her 15th studio album, whose title and release date are to be announced: "I’ve been working on my new album for a while. This is a labor of love and I’m really excited. This is me at this moment in my life being able to express myself as a writer and a singer. I’m just really in a good place."
She added, “Some of the record is lighthearted and fun, and some [songs] I really went deep in terms of the lyrical content. There’s a nice cross-section of things.”
As previously reported, Carey is also set to perform Sept. 21 at the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Festival, which will take place Sept. 21-22 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. She then heads to Asia for a tour that begins Oct. 16 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and ends Nov. 9 in Bangkok, Thailand. The European leg of her 2018 tour begins Dec. 1 in Stavanger, Norway, and ends Dec. 17 in Madrid.
