While music fans see Maroon 5 live on tour this fall, they'll also have a chance to own the instruments the band has used on tour and in the studio. The Grammy Award winners have partnered with Reverb to sell off more than 100 pieces of band-used equipment online through retailer Techno Empire's Reverb storefront, starting Thursday, Aug. 30.
According to Reverb's press release, some of the items going up for sale this week include an Adam Levine tour-used microphone from when the band toured in support of their second album, It Won't Be Soon Before Long (which won them their third Grammy award for the single "Makes Me Wonder") and what's left of a Gibson Les Paul guitar that either Levine or Valentine destroyed on stage during a concert.
"Either Adam or James decided to send that guitar up into the air at the end of one of the songs and when it hit the ground we hit the downbeat of the end of the song," Maroon 5 keyboardist Jesse Carmichael said in the press release. "I'm not sure if it recovered into a playable state, but it's a cool-looking guitar."
Other items Reverb has confirmed will be up for sale include one of Carmichael's past keyboards, several other guitars, and a drum machine utilized during recording sessions. While the stories behind those items weren't revealed just yet, there's going to be a wide variety of instruments and equipment that Maroon 5 enthusiasts can add to their collections. Since the sale is being done directly from the group through a chosen dealer, there's no question that it's authentic, band-used gear.
Fans can view samples of the sale inventory and sign up to be notified when the sale begins at Reverb's website. Pricing was not included in Tuesday's press release, but this is a unique opportunity to own equipment actually used by one of the biggest bands playing today.
