Princess, the Prince cover band lead by SNL alum Maya Rudolph and jazz vocalist Gretchen Lieberum, have announced a spring date in San Francisco - specifically at the Great American Music Hall on May 1.

While Rudolph's and Lieberum's bond over their mutual love of Prince dates back to their college days at University of California, Santa Cruz, Princess didn't come to fruition until 2011. Thankfully for Princess, they received approval from His Royal Majesty prior to his death in April 2016.

After meeting Prince after one of his shows, he warmly greeted the pair with a hug and said he was aware of their work, courtesy of a 2012 "Tonight Show" appearance, that he had saved on his DVR. Explained Lieberum in a Sept. 2016 interview with "The Washington Post," "Yes, he gave us the thumbs-up and some nice hugs. The hug is burned into my soul."

Besides their San Francisco date, Princess has also announced appearances at this year's Coachella on Sunday, June 16, in addition to a show at Park West in Chicago on June 14.

The pre-sale for Princess at the Great American Music Hall on May 1 begins on Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. Click here for tickets.
