Terry Gillilam’s 1998 adaption of Hunter S. Thompson’s seminal Gonzo novel “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” is pretty cool. But the video for Mike WiLL Made-It’s “Perfect Pint” is next level. Parallels can easily be drawn in the Nabil directed video, and just the same as Gilliam’s flick, it helps to have an all-star cast.
Mike WiLL brought on Rae Sremmurd, who in the video cruise through the desert in a red convertible. “As your attorney, I advise you to rent a very fast car with no top.” In place of Raul Duke’s bats, we see Gucci Mane, or perhaps the correct nomenclature would be Gucci Astronaut, or maybe Gucci Spaceman (the guy can do everything), flying above the crew.
But then the video takes it to a galaxy far far away with Kendrick Lamar hovering in a droptop reminiscent of Luke Skywalker’s T-16. You half expect him to bull’s-eye some womp rats. Nerd alert. It’s a perfect piece of post-modern trap art. Check it out above.
“Perfect Pint” is off of Mike WiLL’s latest LP, Ransom 2. As Pitchfork noted, the album also features star-studded collaborations with Rihanna, Future, Pharrell and more. Mike WiLL released the mixtape on March 24. You can catch many of these artists and more at the BET Experience in LA June 22-25 at Staples Center in LA. Click here for tickets.
