MLB fans celebrate Opening Day At Home by sharing heartfelt memories

On March 12, the MLB suspended all spring training-related activities due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Now, with the league's Opening Day officially upon us, the Major Baseball League has shared a touching Opening Day tribute video in commemoration of the start of the 2020 MLB season with the hashtag #OpeningDayAtHome. The hashtag has inspired baseball fans everywhere to share some of their most cherished opening day memories while currently in quarantine.

The decision to postpone the start of the 2020 MLB regular season was a collective decision made by the MLB's commissioner, Rob Manfred, all 30 franchise's executive teams, and the MLB Player's Association. The league and its players mutually agreed with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines to suppress events and gatherings of more than 50 people.

In a recently released statement, the MLB addressed their future plans in the midst of this global pandemic, announcing,
"MLB will keep fans updated on decisions regarding plans for the 2020 schedule in the days and weeks ahead. The Clubs remain committed to playing as many games as possible when the season begins. We will continue to monitor ongoing events and undertake the precautions and best practices recommended by public health experts, and urge all baseball fans to follow suit. MLB extends its best wishes to all the individuals and communities who have been impacted by the coronavirus."

As the masses patiently await for baseball to resurface and provide the world with brand new memories, the most responsible deed for all of us to maintain is our health by practicing the guidelines that could save your life or the life of a loved one.
