This September, the MLS is going gold for a good cause.

All month long, MLS WORKS, the league’s community outreach initiative, will be supporting the Kick Childhood Cancer campaign, the league’s annual drive to raise money and awareness for the Children’s Oncology Group (COG).

Soccer fans can show their support for this important cause by simply supporting their favorite team. MLS WORKS will donate $1 to COG for every Twitter or Instagram post that uses the hashtag #ScarvesUp throughout September. In addition, the MLS store and individual teams are offering exclusive apparel and discounts on scarves to encourage fans to participate in the campaign. Finally, every team will be “going gold” to promote the efforts, both during broadcasts and through in stadium activations; for a schedule of dates, click here.

This is the fourth year the MLS has focused on the Kick Childhood Cancer efforts. According to COG, 41 children are diagnosed with cancer every day and one in five kids suffering from the disease dies. Cancer remains the leading cause of death by disease in children, across all ages, ethnic and socio-economic groups.
