Latin music has grown within the mainstream spectrum, with numerous artists and bands who were once restricted to their Latin audience, are now finding new success within a wider marketplace.
This is what happened to Morat, a pop outfit who hails from Colombia and have caught the attention of music critics and pop music fans. Made up of Juan Pablo Isaza, Simon Vargas, Juan Pablo Villamil, and Alejandro Posada, the four met in college and began singing together.
One music executive who keyed in on their sound was Latin star Paulina Rubio, who produced “Mi Nuevo Vicio,” the single that would launch the group into stardom. That song would go all the way to number 14 on the Billboard Latin Airplay Pop Chart, and would also top the charts in Spain. Now, Morat will try to capitalize on their new-found fame by heading out on the Balas Perdidas tour, hitting the U.S. to expand their audience. In a musical landscape that is starting to embrace all genres, Morat has the vocals, looks, and sound to achieve just that.
