Thirteen albums, a ridiculous number of awards and a legion of fans from Moscow to Japan. Those are just some of the accomplishments of the Russian rock band Mumiy Troll, who will be bringing their brand of edgy, melodic music to the U.S. early next year.
Aside from establishing themselves as one of Russia’s biggest and most successful bands, Mumiy Troll have also created a blueprint for other groups who want to go the indie route. Founder Illya Lagutenko has shaped what's considered cool among Russia’s youth and sparked fashion trends, hairstyles, and other artists now imitating Mumiy Troll’s style of music.
In 2016, the five members released the English-language album Malibu Alibi, which, according to MusicNews, they recorded on a ship while sailing around the globe. During that trip, Mumiy Troll stopped in various ports including China, Japan, South Africa and the United States, demonstrating how far they’re willing to go, both literally and figuratively, to create stellar tunes.
This coming winter, Mumiy Troll will bring all of that passion, experience and phenomenal music with them when they hit U.S. shores once again. They’ll perform at the PlayStation Theater in New York City on Feb. 10, Miami’s Olympia Theater at Gusman Center on Feb. 12 and Los Angeles’ El Rey Theatre on Feb. 18; grab tickets to all of those dates here.
