Taste of Chicago, the premier music and food festival in the nation, will be held at Grant Park in Chicago on July 5-9, 2017. As many of the 4th of July festivals are concluding, the season’s mega-festival will be gearing up for crowds of music and food aficionados. The festival will be free to attend Food tickets will be available for purchase. Concerts will be free, except for the seated areas at the Petrillo Stage. The lawn seating will be free at Petrillo.
Many people plan their schedule around which artist they want to see. This year the festival has a main theme for each day, so fans can plan their days around their favorite types of music. July 5 - R&B/Hip Hop Day
The Petrillo Music Shell will feature Alessia Cara and Eryn Allen Kane, presented by Illinois Lottery, at 5:30 p.m. Cara is a multi-platinum singer-songwriter who has been topping charts since her 2015 hit single “Here.” Her recent hits include “Scars to You Beautiful”, “How Far I’ll Go”, and “Stay”.
The Bud Light Stage will feature Dej Monae, Maurice Jackson’s Independents, ShowYouSuck
Pingy Ring, The Boy Illinois, and Justin Ruff.
July 6 - Latin Day
The Petrillo Music Shell will feature Café Tacvba Esso! Afrojam Fundbeat with Los Vicios de Papa at 5:30 p.m.
The Bud Light Stage will feature Los Vicos de Papa, Vivian Garcia, The Luna Blues Machine, Mariachi Monument, Contrabanda Live, and Afinca’o.
July 7- Folk and Country Day
The Petrillo Music Shell will feature Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals and Twin Peaks, presented by 93XRT, at 5:30 p.m.
The Bud Light Stage will feature the Michael Riser Band, Clique James, Swingabilly Slim, Jonas Friddle & The Majority, The Railway Gamblers, and Jeff Givens & The Mugshot Saints.
July 8 - Rock the Taste!
The Petrillo Music Shell will feature Passion Pit (blues-rock) and The Kickback, presented by Bud Light, at 4:30 p.m.
The Bud Light Stage will feature Steve Ramone & The Pensioners, Blood Red Boots, Oceans Over Airplanes, Aeraco, The Gold Web, Bailiff, and Spit Single.
July 9 - Cornucopia of Music!
Each performance during the day will feature a different type of music, so there should be something for everyone.
The Petrillo Music Shell will feature The O’Jays and Maurice Jackson’s Independents at 4:30 p.m. The O’Jay’s have been hitting the road for over 50 years. Their list of hits includes “Backstabbers,” “Love Train”, “For the Love of Money”, “I Love Music”, “Livin’ For The Weekend”, Darlin’ Darlin’ Baby (Sweet, Tender, Love)”, “Use Ta Be My Girl”, and “Put Your Hands Together”.
The Bud Light Stage will feature Laura Doherty & The Heartbeats with kids’ music, Tovi Khali with Blues/Funk, Aleph Beatz with Afropop/Dance Music, Shuba with Pop/R&B, The Rad Trads, Linsey Alexander with Blues, and The Waco Brothers with Alternative Country.
