The new live show "Mythbusters: Behind the Myths" is coming to Omaha and the Orpheum theater for one night only on Dec. 9. Tickets to the show, starring Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, are going rather fast. The live show is an extension of the popular 'Mythbusters" television series which has been going strong for more than 14 seasons.

The Emmy-nominated "Mythbusters" series has long worked to debunk different myths from all backgrounds and genres using a scientific method which is both well-proven and entertaining to watch. "Mythbusters: Behind the Myths" promises to be more of the same. In the live show, Hyneman and Savage will match wits with each other while staging experiments on stage, asking for audience participation and sharing behind the scenes stories as well as some rocking videos of their trials and tribulations as Mythbusters.

Those who are expecting to see the Mythbusters blow things up in the Orpheum are likely going to be a bit disappointed. That doesn’t mean this show isn’t one that those in Omaha aren’t going to want to go see. Speaking to the Omaha World Herald, Hymeman said, “What we tried to do was re-create the general sense of playful experimentation, when they’re playing and having fun, they’re running experiments,” Hyneman continued. “That’s how they figure out how the world works.”

One of the things theatergoers will get to see is how the Mythbusters are able to figure out exactly how they are going to bust some of the crazy myths. Hyneman talked about one in particular he thought was really dumb. The television personality had to go on the show in order to show people that an airplane can’t take off and get flight simply by using a treadmill.

The star of the popular Discovery Channel program was vexed by the fact that the pilot who agreed to help with the experiment was surprised it didn’t work. While those kinds of experiments are far too big for the Orpheum, there will be others that are specifically geared towards this setting and this audience.

The show takes place on Tuesday, Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m. While ticket prices originally ranged from $44.25 to $129.25 the higher end tickets have already sold out. As of Friday morning, the tickets remaining range in price from $44.25 to $64.25. Mythbusters: Behind the Myths at the Orpheum promises to be worth every penny.
