NBA unveils 3-point participants for All-Star weekend

The NBA has announced its list for the 3-point shooting contest, one of the marquee events for All-Star weekend. With the emphasis for the shot greater than it’s been in the game’s history, this year’s contest figures to be one of the most competitive yet.

The event will take place on Feb. 17 at Staples Center, with the 67th All-Star Game taking place the following night.

The competition will include: the Suns’ Devin Booker, the Heat’s Wayne Ellington, the Thunder’s Paul George, the Wizards’ Bradley Beal, the Warriors’ Klay Thompson, the Clippers’ Tobias Harris and the Raptors’ Kyle Lowry.

Stephen Curry previously announced that he would skip this year’s event, but he plans on returning next year when it takes place in Charlotte, NC. Teammate Klay Thompson figures to be the favorite, as he leads the league with a 45.4 percentage from behind the arc.

George ranks as the participant with the second-best percentage. The Oklahoma City forward, who is also receiving consideration for Defensive Player of the Year, has knocked down 42.7 percent of his three-pointers.
