If you’ve wanted to see hip-hop, rock and country bands performing under one roof, then make plans to see People’s Choice Awards, televised on Jan. 7, 2015, at 9 p.m. EST on CBS. Iggy Azalea, Fall Out Boy and Lady Antebellum are all scheduled to perform during the show.
The announcement, which was posted on the award show’s official Facebook page on Dec. 20, 2014, got plenty of thumbs-up from fans. The performers are excited, too, with Fall Out Boy posting on Facebook “get to perform at the People's Choice Awards on january 7th.”
Iggy Azalea is nominated for two awards for the People’s Choice Awards: Favorite Female Artist, where the other nominees include Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Sia and Taylor Swift, and Favorite Hip-Hop Artist, with nominees that include Drake, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj and T.I. Lady Antebellum is nominated for Best Country Group. Other bands in that category include Rascal Flatts, The Band Perry, Zac Brown Band and Florida Georgia Line.
The awards show has more than 60 categories for music, movies and TV shows, including Favorite Thriller Movie, Favorite TV Character We Miss Most, Favorite TV Icon, and Favorite Song. According to the awards show’s website, “People's Choice Awards celebrates fan favorites in movies, music and television.” What makes the awards show unique is that fans can vote for their favorite nominee in a given category, and gives the fans an opportunity to honor the best musicians, movies, TV shows and actors that year. As of press time, voting has closed for all categories, expect Favorite New TV Comedy and Favorite New TV Drama. The show airs before a number of other awards shows, including the Golden Globe Awards on Jan. 11, 2015, the GRAMMY Awards on Feb. 8, and the Academy Awards on Feb. 22.
The People’s Choice Awards will be hosted by film and TV stars Anna Faris and Allison Janney. Want to see the show in person? Tickets are available for purchase via AXS.com, and the show will be filmed from Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE.
