Fall Out Boy fans, rejoice: The Chicago-based rock band has debuted its newest single. “American Beauty/American Psycho” which premiered Nov. 24, 2014, via Zane Lowe’s radio show on BBC Radio 1, features the band’s signature sound. It was also revealed the single is the title song for the band’s upcoming album.
When he introduced the song, Lowe called the single “a smash.” He then played the song back-to-back. In his introduction of the single, Lowe told listeners he was excited for the single’s debut, too.
Many fans of Fall Out Boy seemed to like the new single, too, with many taking to the band’s official Facebook page to post compliments. A few posters also wrote they were excited for the entire album’s release. As of press time, the band has not released a music video for “American Beauty/American Psycho.” On its Facebook and Twitter accounts, the band referred to the song as the “new UK single.” You can listen to this episode of Lowe's show online for a limited time.
The single “American Beauty/American Psycho” will be released digitally on Dec. 8, 2014, worldwide. After the single premiered on Lowe’s show, the band’s website also had information on its upcoming album, the band’s sixth. American Beauty/American Psycho will be released Jan. 20, 2015, worldwide via DCD2/Island Records. On Fall Out Boy’s official website, the band posted the message “we have infiltrated you. now we are inside you like a disease. this is a modern love story- coming together and unravelling all at once.”
The debut of the single is the latest news in what’s shaping up to be a busy year for Fall Out Boy. As previously reported on AXS.com, the band has remixed the Chicago Bulls’ anthem “Only The Bulls” with Lupe Fiasco, released the single “Immortals” for the Disney film Big Hero 6, and also released the single and two videos for “Centuries” earlier this year. Lowe premiered “Centuries” on his radio show, too.
Fall Out Boy has several concert dates scheduled all over the world next year, including Soundwave Festival in Melbourne, Australia, on Feb. 21, 2015; Pot of Gold Music Festival in Tempe, Ariz., on March 15, 2015; and Punkspring 2015 on March 29, 2015, in Tokyo, Japan.
