As a "special treat" for her fans, Kacey Musgraves has released an official recording of her original "The Trailer Song." Much like her acclaimed Mercury Records debut Same Trailer Different Park, the tune, co-written with Brandy Clark and Shane McAnnally, is a stark dissection of small-town life, as perceived through the eyes of a a modern-day John Prine. With cutting wit to spare and an infectiously welcoming charm, Musgraves doesn't shy away from supplying a refreshing perspective on life.
With the iTunes release, this one-off track doesn't have an album home, yet, but there is speculation the song could find its way on Musgraves' next record. As previously reported, the singer-songwriter, who became a two-time Grammy Award winner this year, is expected to return to the studio this fall to piece together a new album. "I'm focusing on what's ahead of me right now," she shared recently, in an interview with Grammy.com. "[I'm] trying to keep some creative ideas going. In the fall, I'll go back into the studio and start making another record."
Musgraves debuted "The Trailer Song" during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last week (Thursday, June 12) and received overwhelmingly positive reviews. While the song has not officially been sent to radio, fans are already clamoring for the song to be heard on airwaves. The track follows the Top 10 success of her debut single "Merry Go 'Round" and the Billboard Hot Country Songs hit "Follow Your Arrow," an anthemic entry about living life to the fullest, in your own away.
This summer, the singer will embark with several tours, including on Katy Perry's Prismatic World Tour. Set for a slew of dates, Musgraves will open for the pop superstar in August. For additional info and to purchase tickets, head over here.
