If you flip through Kacey Musgraves' iPod, you'll find a "vast array" of music, she boasts, which is probably why her upcoming summer tour schedule is rather eclectic. The two-time Grammy Award winner will not only join the co-headlining venture of Willie Nelson and Alison Krauss & Union Station on a slew of dates, but the singer-songwriter will take the stage with Katy Perry in August on the Prismatic World Tour. It might seem like an odd pairing, but the two vastly different performers have been admirers of each others' work for quite some time.
"It's really crazy," Musgraves tells Grammy.com about her summer adventures. "I feel it really sums me up, musically. I'm really happy that I get to jump around like that." Of course, the "Follow Your Arrow" singer will headline her own dates across Europe and the UK. John & Jacob will be her special guests. "They're a really cool duo," she adds.
Meanwhile, she reveals that she's been writing "here and there," in preparation for her Same Trailer Different Park follow-up. "I'm focusing on what's ahead of me right now," she says. "[I'm] trying to keep some creative ideas going. In the fall, I'll go back into the studio and start making another record."
On Friday (June 13), Musgraves and Perry team up for the latest CMT Crossroads episode. The series, celebrating its landmark 50th entry, is known to pair artists from different genres for a must-see event. Previous collaborations include Carrie Underwood and Aerosmith, Dierks Bentley and OneRepublic and Lady Antebellum and Stevie Nicks.
