Kacey Musgraves playing free concert at Texas State Fair

The State Fair of Texas always books some talented musicians to perform during the big event every year. This year, the Texas State Fair has signed a hometown girl to come to perform in concert at the big event. The Dallas Morning News reported on Wednesday that Kacey Musgraves will perform at the Texas State Fair on Sept. 30.

This isn’t Kacey Musgraves first performance at the State Fair of Texas, as she also performed in concert there back in 2013. However, that was before her major breakout. Musgraves was growing in popularity at the time, as the performance was just six months after her major label debut album Same Trailer Different Park.

Musgraves cut her teeth playing music in the DFW area, born in Golden, Texas, but growing up just east of Dallas. She started playing country music professionally at the age of 18 and became a local favorite in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. She played in clubs around Dallas and worked until a smaller indie label signed her and she recorded two demo singles.

Before releasing Same Trailer Different Park, she joined up with Miranda Lambert for the Own the Night Tour and picked up some more fans. Her first big single was “Merry Go Round” in 2013. However, after her Texas State Fair performance, Musgraves popularity exploded.

She won four Grammy awards in 2014 and opened for Katy Perry on the Prismatic World Tour and also played with Willie Nelson and Alison Krauss. Also in 2014, Kacey Musgraves released her follow up album Pageant Material and the hit single “Biscuits.” In 2016, Musgraves has toured North America with her Kacey Musgraves Country & Western Rhinestone Revue Tour.

With all the success under her belt, Musgraves is coming back to Dallas for the State Fair of Texas. The Texas State Fair kicks off on Sept. 30 and will last until Oct. 23. The Kacey Musgraves concert is on Opening Night of the Texas State Fair, with a start time of 8:30 p.m. CST. As of now, these are just announcements and ticket information is still not available for the 2016 Texas State Fair.
