Kacey Musgraves wins first GRAMMY Awards

Kacey Musgraves first album with Mercury Nashville has earned her two GRAMMY Awards. Same Trailer Different Park won Best Country Album and “Merry ‘Go ‘Round” won for Best Country Song.

The incredible year that Kacey Musgraves has had just culminated in beating out some of country music’s biggest names such as Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift. Many expected Taylor Swift’s multi-Platinum album Red to take the Best Country Album title, but perhaps its pop leanings or Kacey Musgraves raw country sound and clever lyrics swayed the vote.

Upon winning Best Country Album, Kacey Musgraves was truly surprised. She could be heard saying “Oh my God, Oh my God” over and over as she was handed the award. It seemed even she was shocked by her win. In any case, she quickly regained her composure and very eloquently thanked her entire production team, the musicians who “brought her songs to life,” and her fans.

Kacey Musgraves is the reigning CMA New Artist of the Year and is nominated for the ACM New Artist of the Year award, but those other accolades are probably far from Kacey Musgraves’ mind after being handed one of the most prestigious awards she could ever win.
