Kelly Clarkson made her return to “American Idol” and kicked emotions into high gear for herself and everyone watching. Taste of Country spread the news that Clarkson’s comeback was filled with a tearful performance of her song “Piece by Piece” and Clarkson was not the only one wiping the tears from her eyes while she was singing the song. “American Idol” judge Keith Urban sat at the judges table soaking in Clarkson’s emotional moment on the stage and let his tears fall during the song as well.
Clarkson’s song “Piece by Piece” is based on the kind of father her husband Brandon Blackstock is to their daughter River in comparison to how her father was to her growing up. Clarkson broke down during her “American Idol” performance and pointed to her hormones as a soon-to-be-mother of her second child who will be arriving very soon. Clarkson is expecting a son this time around to join his big sister River. Clarkson wrote “Piece by Piece” after River was born and had another emotional performance of the song while she was on tour, which turned into her telling the crowd that she was pregnant with baby number two after she cried while she was singing her new hit.
Clarkson also had her emotions running in high gear because she was returning to the show that kick started her career by naming her the first “American Idol” winner. Clarkson made her comeback to the show during the final season as a guest judge and performer. The Top 10 was also revealed on Clarkson’s special night with Dalton Rapattoni, Olivia Rox, Trent Harmon, La’Porsha Renae, MacKenzie Bourg, Tristan McIntosh, Avalon Young, Gianna Isabella, Lee Jean and Sonika Vaid named as the 10 finalists.
