You might not have heard, but besides working as a singer and fulfilling duties as a mother and wife, Kelly Clarkson has also picked up another full-time job. Over the past several weeks the singer has thrown one more piece of china into her one-woman plate spinning act, as she has spent a sizable chunk of time addressing internet haters and talking about her weight and appearance.
Earlier this month was just another day at the office, as Katie Hopkins tweeted about the singer’s weight, saying, “Jesus, what happened to Kelly Clarkson? Did she eat all of her backing singers? Happily I have wide-screen. #grahamnorton.” Clarkson replied in Heat magazine, brushing the criticism off by saying, “She's tweeted something nasty about me? That's because she doesn't know me. I'm awesome!” It was a perfect bon mot.
And just last week, “Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace, remarked on the singer’s weight-gain.
Clarkson didn’t respond to that one, but Redbook has conducted an interview with the singer that should put comments to rest. “I don’t obsess about my weight, which is probably one of the reasons why other people have such a problem with it.”
Clarkson instead opted to focus on her positives, saying, “There are just some people who are born skinny and with a great metabolism–that is not me. I wish I had a better metabolism. But someone else probably wishes they could walk into a room and make friends with everyone like I can. You always want what someone else has.”
The singer also talked about her marriage to Brandon Blackstock, revealing that, "I always swore ours would not be a relationship where we have to schedule sex. That is never going to happen. We put each other first. I call it the oxygen-mask mentality—take care of yourself first!"
Back in February, Clarkson released her seventh studio album Piece by Piece, her first proper studio album to feature original material since 2011’s Stronger.
Clarkson is set to go on tour this year. Check out the singer's full list of tour dates at her official website. Watch Clarkson's video for "Heartbeat Song" above.
