Nina Nesbitt announces new EP Modern Love, streams single 'Chewing Gum'
Nina Nesbitt

Nina Nesbitt is only 21, but she's already scored some huge successes in her blossoming career. Her debut album Peroxide hit number 1 in the UK and in her homeland of Scotland, she's had two Top 40 singles charted by BBC Radio 1, and over 30 million YouTube views. She's also recently performed alongside John Newman and Ella Eyre. Not too shabby for someone who just hit the legal drinking age in the states, is it?

After a year off from releasing new music, Nesbitt is making her return in 2016. Her new single "Chewing Gum" was premiered on Radio 1 yesterday (and when it dropped, it instantly became the number 2 trending topic on Twitter) and it comes from her forthcoming brand new EP Modern Love. Over the last few years, Nesbitt has transformed from a folky singer/songwriter to an undeniable pop master, which she discussed in a press release.

Modern Love “represents a new state of mind, a new person and a new life", she said. “It's a big departure from the 17-year-old girl with an acoustic guitar but it feels like the most honest music I've written. I've been left alone to do whatever I want without anyone breathing down my neck saying, “that's not you,” or trying to water it down. I've spent the past two years living with friends in London and sonically documenting it. {Lead single} ‘Chewing Gum’ is an empowering track that I wrote about the transient types of relationships people have when they’re trying to figure out what they want and they’re not ready to fully commit.”

She'll be performing the new material at the trio of live dates she announced not too long ago. All three shows sold out in under 30 minutes, but if you'd like to maybe peruse Craigslist or Stubhub for your shot at last minute tickets, the dates are below. You can stream "Chewing Gum" right now over at Spotify, reacquaint yourself with "Selfies" above, and its music video will premiere on the 14th of this month. Modern Love will be released on February 5.
