Paul McCartney announced on Feb. 25 that he will headline this year's Firefly Music Festival, which will take place June 18 through 21 at the Woodlands in Dover, Delaware. The festival's Facebook page announced that VIP and Super VIP passes go on sale this Friday at noon EST. General admission passes and camping packages go on sale Monday at noon EST. Additional ticket information is available on Firefly's website.
The Firefly lineup is crowded and diverse. Others playing the festival include: Kings of Leon, The Killers, Morrissey, Snoop Dogg, Foster the People, Modest Mouse, Steve Aoki, Sublime With Rome, Gary Clark Jr., Run the Moon, Kygo, Matt & Kim, the Chainsmokers, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, Sylvan Esso, Manchester Orchestra, Young Rising Sons, Max Frost, Clean Bandit, Jungle, Alison Wonderland, How to Dress Well, Walk the Moon, Cold War Kids, Bastille and Empire of the Sun.
It will be McCartney's first ever appearance at Firefly, though it's by far his first music festival. In 2013, he played three festivals: Outside Lands in San Francisco, Bonnaroo Music Festival in Tennessee and the iHeartMusic Festival in Las Vegas. He did not play any in 2014.
The festival is the latest addition to McCartney's ongoing Out There tour. He recently announced he will be playing shows from April 21 through May 2 in Japan and South Korea. The appearance at Firefly has been rumored for weeks, though the lineup released recently left out one name that was blurred out. The festival said the name was held back until “final approval.”
