A dream prize of attending a Paul McCartney sound check and concert with VIP seating and getting to meet the former Beatle backstage before the show is the one of the prizes available in a group of new Grammy Charity Online Auctions being offered through Charitybuzz, it was announced April 29 by MusiCares, which is receiving the proceeds from the auction. The meet-and-greet opportunity with McCartney will be available for all upcoming announced shows on the tour, including in Europe in the UK, France, Sweden, the Netherlands and Norway, and also in the U.S., Charitybuzz and MusiCares said. The auction estimates the prize's worth at $75,000. The high bid for the McCartney meet up currently stands at $8,000 after four bids.
The auction runs through May 7. According to the auction's rules, the prize is valid for two people for any upcoming McCartney concert date in 2015. The winners will be responsible for accommodations, meals and transportation to and from the event or venue and will be subject to background checks. The meet-and-greet dates must also be scheduled a minimum of two weeks in advance.
Other artists offering prizes in the MusiCares auction include Wynonna Judd, Ziggy Marley, Sam Smith and Rufus Wainwright. The MusiCares charity offers help to music people in times of financial, medical and personal need by providing programs and services, including emergency financial assistance, educational workshops, flu shots, hearing tests and medical/dental screenings.
