Post Malone makes late-night TV debut on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!'

Post Malone grew up in North Texas and cut his teeth in the DFW area. He got some big notice when 50 Cent and Kanye West discovered him and got a huge chance to make his name known when he opened a number of concerts for Justin Bieber earlier this year. Now, Post Malone is getting a little more publicity thanks to an appearance on late night television. The Dallas Morning News reported on Thursday that Post Malone got a chance to perform on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” this week.

The song he performed was “Go Flex” and he sounded really good. Post Malone got his start thanks to him putting his demos on YouTube and then breaking out when his hit “White Iverson,” a homage to NBA star Allen Iverson, got him almost 178 million YouTube views alone. Kanye West and Jay-Z both were impressed enough to ask him to collaborate on material with them. Not only has “White Iverson” gotten a ton of YouTube views, but it has also gone platinum.

The next song that Post Malone released was “Too Young,” which was an impressive song lyrically as it told the story of a man who wanted to make his mark in the world before he died. That song reached 58th on the U.S. Billboard R&B charts. “Go Flex” was his third release and has reached 43rd on the R&B charts and 94th on the Billboard Hot 100. With the publicity on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” it should move even higher.

All three songs will be on his self-titled debut album, which goes on sale on Aug. 26 through Republic. He also released a mixtape called August 26 in May, which has 10 songs on it. Outside of his own work, he has worked on “Tryna F**k Me Over” with 50 Cent, “Fade” with Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign, and “On God” with Zuse.”

Most recently, Post Malone opened for Justin Bieber when the Purpose Tour came through Dallas at the American Airlines Center. It was a great moment for the DFW native, who went to high school at Grapevine before hitting it big on the rap scene.
