Watch: Kacey Musgraves' new single 'Biscuits' headed to radio

Kacey Musgraves' minds her own "Biscuits" (and her life is just gravy) on her just-announced new single. Co-written with industry heavyweights Brandy Clark and Shane Mcanally, the empowering mid-tempo serves as the lead single for Musgraves' forthcoming sophomore effort. The track falls in line with her previous Top 10 Hot Country Songs hit "Follow Your Arrow" and iTunes release "The Trailer Song" (both sonically and lyrically), but has a far more universal appeal about living life on your own terms (without worrying about what your neighbor is doing). The rising female vocalist is somewhat of a champion for more traditionally-sound country, doused with her Texas red-dirt roots and John Prine-style of songwriting. Much like Loretta Lynn before her, Musgraves digs into the emotional reality of the human existence but with plenty of sharp-crafted wit to spare.

"Biscuits" was officially confirmed as her new single during Thursday's (Feb. 26) Country Radio Seminar event at the Ryman Auditorium in downtown Nashville. The plucky jam is set to hit radio on March 16 and iTunes the following day.

Musgraves' debut LP Same Trailer Different Park, despite little radio support, ultimately walked away with Best Country Album from the 2014 Grammy Awards. The album's lead single (and eventually a Top 10 radio hit) "Merry Go 'Round" earned Best Country Song. Follow up singles "Blowin' Smoke" and "It Is What It Is" failed to gain traction at radio, with "Follow Your Arrow" surging in sales and streaming following her western-swing performance on the CBS telecast (vaulting to the Top 10 on the sales/streaming/airplay hybrid Hot Country Songs chart).
