Friday night’s episode of the “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” was aired live for the first time in the show’s history. This is, we guess, interesting because these late night shows are almost never taped late night, or at night for that matter. They usually record them during the day. Colbert did a live airing dry run because he will conduct a live show after Super Bowl 50 next month.
It sounds like everything went off without a hitch (what, you expect us to watch late night television at night? Be serious, they have YouTube now) so we can all expect to have something actually entertaining to look at after the Super Bowl is over. His musical guest for the night was Kacey Musgraves. The singer’s superb 2015 album Pageant Material is nominated for a Grammy this year for Best Country Album, and she performed one of the album’s standout songs “Late To The Party.” It’s a song about how Musgraves and her significant other are really late to a party they were invited to, but they don’t care because they are super in love. Don’t invite Kacey Musgraves to your party, unless she is going to sing, because she can do that pretty well. Her sparkly, charming, buttoned up band and soft croon made for a delightful close to the week. Watch it above.
Kacey Musgraves will go out on tour this month. Check out her tour dates here.
