Paul McCartney continued the North American leg of his One On One Tour on April 17 in Seattle, at KeyArena At Seattle Center. The iconic British rocker pumped out a marathon 39-song setlist, jammed with hits and beloved album tracks, that included a surprise guest appearance by former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic.
Rolling Stone reports on April 18 that the crunge pioneer and hometown hero joined the ex-Beatle during the set's fourth encore number - a sizzling cover of The Beatles' White Album classic "Helter Skelter." Macca, who initially teamed with up Novoselic and the remaining members of Nirvana to record and perform the one-off charity single "Cut Me Some Slack" at the 12-12-12 Hurricane Sandy concert, last performed with the veteran alt-rocker back on July 19, 2013 at McCartney's show at Seattle's Safeco Park.
In the 4:29 minute fan-shot video, Sir Paul offhandedly introduces the Nirvana co-founder prior to ripping into "Helter Skelter." Fans scream their approval as Novoselic casually strolls onstage with the 21-time Grammy winner acknowledging his arrival by saying, "You ready to rock Krist?"
Novoselic's appearance marks the latest in a string of suprises that the "Band on the Run" hitmaker has pulled out of the hat on his latest world trek. The One On One Tour, which launched Wednesday in Fresno, California, has featured live performances of Beatles classics like "A Hard Day's Night" and "Love Me Do," which McCartney has never performed live as a solo artist and were last performed by him over five decades ago while still a member of The Beatles.
The ex-Wings star today announced a brand new U.S. tour date at his official Paul McCartney website, slated for Aug. 17 in Cleveland at Quicken Loans Arena. It will be the two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's first return to the Rock and Roll Capitol of The World since 2002.
Presales begin Tues., April 19. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Mon., April 25 at 10:00 a.m. local time. For more information, click here.
The One On One Tour continues with a two-night stand April 19 - April 20 in Vancouver, British Columbia, at Rogers Arena. Tickets for select McCartney events are available at AXS.
