Detroit Lions (9-5) at Dallas Cowboys (12-2), Monday Dec. 26, 8:30 PM ET
Line: Cowboys -7.5
What to do the day after Christmas? Might we suggest watching some more football? After a loss to the Giants, only their second of the season, the Cowboys bounced back with a win last Sunday night. However, Tampa gave Dallas a real push, and the Cowboys are definitely looking more vulnerable. It just seems like the Lions aren’t the team to really threaten them. The Lions have lost a couple games in a row, and they have been punching above their weight all season. They rank 26th in DVOA, which is not usual for a possible playoff team. Plus, Detroit is 3-4 on the road, while the Cowboys are 6-1 at home.
The Lions have been banged up, but that didn’t seem to hurt Matthew Stafford last week against the Giants. Dak Prescott also had a nice game last week, bouncing back after some (absurd) calls for Tony Romo to take the starting job. Neither team has a ton to play for, to be honest. Dallas has the division, and a bye essentially if not officially locked up. Detroit’s season comes down to beating the Packers in their season finale. Winning here doesn’t do much for the Lions, although they’d probably still enjoy the belated Christmas present. Don’t count on that in your stocking, though, Detroit fans.
Prediction: Cowboys 31, Lions 20
