Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve has enthralled fans for 45 years now, and while Clark himself passed away five years ago, it remains a popular way to ring in the New Year. Billboard reported that three acts have just announced their participation this year's show on ABC. Nick Jonas, Camila Cabello and Sugarland have signed on to perform in Times Square for the New Year's Eve event this year.
When Clark first formed his New Year's Eve party back in 1972, his idea was to compete with the big band broadcasts that aired for years on CBS. Clark started out on NBC but moved to ABC two years later and has presided over that network on New Year's Eve ever since. When Clark passed away, Ryan Seacrest took over the hosting duties and remains the primary host this year as well.
Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve special will appeal to younger audiences with names like Jonas and former Fifth Harmony member Cabello. As for Sugarland, this is a huge moment for their fans since they just confirmed they are reforming and will tour next year. Cabello is also working on a new album with intentions to release in January.
Jenny McCarthy will co-host the event with Ryan Seacrest, while Ciara will hold down the party on the West Coast. Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve kicks off at 8 p.m. EST on ABC on New Year's Eve.
