San Francisco’s Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival will celebrate its 11th running when it returns to Golden Gate Park later this summer on Aug. 10-12. For this year, the festival’s organizers have recruited The Weeknd, Florence + The Machine and Janet Jackson as their big font headliners to perform, in addition to scheduled sets from Future, Beck, Odesza, DJ Snake and Bon Iver.
The complete 2018 Outside Lands lineup was released earlier this week, following previous seasonal announcements from other major music festivals throughout the country for this summer including Panorama, Coachella, Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza. While Outside Lands may be a few minutes late to poster reveal party, they’ve certainly made up for it with another fantastic listing of artists that also includes Portugal, The Man, CHVRCHES, James Blake, Jamie XX, Mac DeMarco, trip-hop collective The Internet and Børns, to name a few.
Possibly the most surprising and refreshing name on this year’s poster is Huey Lewis and the News. Many fans will remember the San Francisco band’s name courtesy of “American Psycho.” When the veteran rock band starts playing, however, Patrick Bateman quotes will quickly become irrelevant as a sea of irony will take over the historically bohemian and culturally rebellious city with lyrics like “Hip to Be Square."
For Florence + The Machine, their inclusion on the Outside Lands poster is only the second U.S. festival which the British rock band are set to appear at in 2018. The band seem to be gearing up for another big album cycle at some point this year, as they’ll also take the stage at Los Angeles’ FYF Fest earlier on in the summer.
Some of the more notable artists found in the mid-sized and smaller fonts on the poster include Chicano Batman, Sabrina Claudio, Margo Price, Shannon & The Clams, Lucy Dacus, Gang of Youths and GoGo Penguin.
