P!nk announces new album 'Beautiful Trauma,' releases single 'What About Us'

P!nk is finally releasing a new album after a five year wait. Though she has not been gone from the recording studio, doing side projects and songs, the world has been wondering when her next full-length LP would drop. That time is now. P!nk took to her social media to announce she will release her seventh studio albumBeautiful Trauma, on October 13, 2017 and it's led by single "What About Us."

"I could not be more excited right now," she wrote in her post. "I'm certifiably, insanely proud of this album. It's been a while, and I'm grateful for all the years we've had. Looking forward to the next chapter with you," she continued.

"What About Us" doesn't stray too far from P!nk's signature sound but involves a new atmospheric rhythm ala Coldplay in the hypnotic new tune. When other pop stars are testing new waters, the 37-year-old songwriter sticks with what works for her. "We are problems that want to be solved/ We are children that need to be loved/ We were willing/ We came when you called/ But man you fooled us/ Enough is enough/ What about us?/ What about all the times you said you had the answers?," she sings in the brand new song released Aug. 10.

Entrancing beats beautifully wrapped in keys, the inspiring single sings of a collective people, "We are problems that want to be solved/ We are children that need to be loved." As the track builds, a closer listen has it relating to public policies and general politics that can be imagined from the artwork included with the lyric video (seen above). P!nk stands loving and fierce in the middle of diverse individuals as the filter pans between black and white and color, seeing all the fragments of each person.

P!nk's previous album The Truth About Love was released in 2012 and spawned several hit singles including "Try," "Just Give Me a Reason" featuring Nate Ruess, and "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)." The album became P!nk's first No. 1 album on the Billboard Top 200 when it entered with 281,000 copies sold in its first week and featured extensive bonus tracks.

Though the song-writer's previous album was released five years ago, she's not been far from music at all. In 2014, she teamed up with Dallas Green (City and Colour) to create a perfectly dramatic set under the name You+Me. The album rose.ave was an acoustic set and the pairing couldn't have intertwined any better. In 2016, she contributed her sassy vocals on the song "Just Like Fire" for the Alice Through the Looking Glass soundtrack and it went on to peak at No. 10 on the Hot 100 and No. 1 on Adult Contemporary.

P!nk then worked with country superstar Kenny Chesney on the track "Setting the World on Fire" from his album Cosmic Hallelujah. Her second song with the word "fire" in its title was serviced to both pop and country radio stations and reached No. 1 on both Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay while becoming a top 20 hit on the Adult Top 40. At the 2017 Grammy Awards, "Just Like Fire" earned a nomination for Best Country Duo/Group Performance.

In 2017, P!nk joined Sia on Norwegian production duo Stargate's "Waterfall," the debut single from the producers.
