Paul McCartney continues to slowly announce dates for his newly announced Freshen Up Tour. The ex-Beatle has confirmed his first round of U.K. shows, which will take place in December in support of his upcoming studio album Egypt Station, which will drop Sept. 7 via Capitol Records.
The iconic British rocker unveiled the new dates on July 5 via his official Paul McCartney website, following the initial announcement of the brand new tour along with the first series of dates, which will take place this fall in Canada. The Freshen Up Tour will mark the two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's first live performances since wrapping up the One On One Tour on Dec. 16 in Auckland, New Zealand.
The winter romp will focus on arenas and launch in Macca's hometown on Dec. 12 in Liverpool, U.K., at Echo Arena. Sir Paul will also make a stop on Dec. 14 in Glasgow, Scotland, at SSE Hydro before wrapping up Dec. 16 in London at O2 Arena. More dates are expected to be announced shortly.
Select presales for the U.K. shows will go on sale Wednesday, July 11 at 10:00 a.m. local time. Tickets go on sale to the public starting Monday, July 16 at July 13 at 10:00 a.m. local time. Grab your Paul McCartney tickets at AXS.
“There’s nothing like performing in front of your home crowd, especially when it’s been a while," writes McCartney in a press release. "I can’t wait to finish the year on such a high by partying in Liverpool, Glasgow and London."
Egypt Station was produced by Greg Kurstin and Ryan Tedder and features the singles “Come on to Me” and “I Don't Know.” Featuring 16 tracks, the album is the 18-time Grammy winner's first solo release of original songs since 2013's New and is available to preorder here in standard, as well as deluxe editions in CD, digital, vinyl and streaming formats. Fans can check out the single “Come on to Me” above.
The Freshen Up Tour will launch Sept. 17 in Quebec City, P.Q., at Videotron Centre. The “Hey Jude” hitmaker will also make a U.S. headline appearance at Austin City Limits Music Festival, which will take place over two weekends from Oct. 5 – Oct. 7 and Oct. 12 – Oct. 14 in Austin, Texas, at Zilker Park.
