The North American leg of Paul Simon’s “Homeward Bound” Farewell Tour is currently 19 shows in, with the next scheduled concert set to take place on Wednesday night in Nashville. The tour was initially announced back in February as the latest high profile rock artist from the baby boomer generation to enjoy one final go-around before calling it quits on a very successful career. On Wednesday morning, Simon announced a final stop on the tour with what appears to be his last ever with a concert at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens, New York on Sept. 22, following his two-night stand at Madison Square Garden on Sept. 20-21.

The announcement arrived shortly after 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning and came with a short but fitting tribute video shared to Bowery Presents’ Twitter page, seen below. There was speculation to Simon’s initial tour announcement as to where in New York City the iconic singer-songwriter might be hosting his last performance ever, and now fans know that it will be taking place in the city’s picturesque borough of Queens. Although Simon may be remembered best for his Central Park concert alongside former partner and collaborator Art Garfunkel, it was in the neighborhoods of Flushing in Queens where Simon spent his youth and built the foundation for what he would need throughout a lifetime of music.

Tickets for the final show of Simon’s farewell tour will be going on sale next Friday, June 29, at 10 a.m. EST, and can be purchased by clicking here.

The 76-year-old Simon quite content when he delivered a personal letter to his fans while announcing his final tour back on February 5.

"It seems more like fate than coincidence that I should do the final show on this final tour at Flushing Meadows Corona Park," Simon said in a statement shared to the concert's event page on the Facebook of Madison House Presents. "The concerts I could have ridden my bike from home to the park in about 20 minutes, when I was a kid. But this is less a goodbye than a farewell. Thank you all for the ride, I had a great time."

Simon’s Farewell Tour will continue throughout the summer and into the early fall months, with scheduled shows at Tampa’s Amalie Arena on Sept. 7 and Orlando’s Amway Center on Sept. 11. Tickets to select shows on the tour and more information on Simon can also be found by clicking here.
