With another snowstorm on the horizon, comic book fans from the New York City/New Jersey area made their way to the Big Apple Comic Con yesterday at Penn Plaza in order to stock up on some great reading material and meet their favorite comic book heroes such as Frank Miller, Jim Steranko and Barbara Ang. When it came to throwing some money down, the dealers room on the second floor featured all sorts of goodies to acquire, including the elusive (and very expensive) Action Comics No. 1. Convention organizer Michael Carbonaro, who got married to model Nina Martinez at a special Friday night ceremony, walked around the show floor to greet fans during the day.

The biggest name on the guest list for the weekend was iconic comic book writer Stan Lee. For the past year, Lee has been slowing down his convention run, which included final appearances at Rhode Island Comic Con and New York Comic Con. Unfortunately, the 94 year old was forced to pull out of Big Apple Comic Con due to health concerns. In quick fashion, they managed to replace him with Jim Lee, who won three Wizard Fan Awards for Favorite Penciller.

AXS was there check out some of the eye catching cosplay seen throughout the convention. Big Apple Comic Con is slated to return next March.
