James Taylor & His All-Star Band "Steamrolled" into Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre Sunday evening May 27. Due to a health issue, his tour-mate Bonnie Raitt was unable to make an appearance, a full recovery is expected. Although her absence was felt, James Taylor & His All-Star Band carried on and gave the sell-out crowd just about everything they came for.
"Sweet Baby James" has mellowed over the years into a humble, joyful songwriter and storyteller who celebrates the musical soul of the American experience. At seventy his voice is mellow and rich and his humor as adroit and understated as it has always been. The simplicity and richness of his music and the unpretentious warm embracing of his audience’s presence is like sitting down at a family gathering and swapping stories and songs with people you love. The experience is both personal and shared. It is a night of laughter, love, reflection, and memories.
James Taylor’s eleven member All-Star Band is loaded with Talent. There is a clear sense of comradery and respect between Taylor and his band members, and the quality of their ensemble and solo work are witness to that creative connection. Throughout the evening J.T. also takes the time to recognize the contributions and musical journies of each member of the group.
James Taylor & His All-Star Band is a remarkable musical experience that should not be missed and should be shared with someone you love.
