Stoney, Post Malone’s full-length debut album, has officially triumphed as the Best Hip-Hop Album Debut of 2016. The debut album, released via Republic Records, emerged at the No. 6 spot on the Billboard Top 200, in addition to selling over 58,000 copies in its first-week. Stoney can be purchased here.
In addition to the full-length album’s sales success, it was immensely critically acclaimed. “Stoney may be the year’s most vulnerable-sounding rap album,” the Los Angeles Times said. As well, Complex said, “Stoney proves he’s the real deal.” Post Malone previously celebrated the album’s release with a sold-out Stoney Album Release Party that occurred at Irving Plaza in New York, NY last week. The event also served as the culmination of Post Malone’s incredibly successful fall headline tour.
As far as album sales go, Stoney continues to illuminate its success. The full-length did, in fact, cross the U.S. Gold 500K album equivalent, even before arriving at retailers with a triple-platinum certification for “White Iverson” and gold certification for “Go Flex” and “Too Young.” “White Iverson” stands as a marker of Post Malone’s breakout single success, and it was shortly followed up with “Go Flex” as another one of Post Malone’s singles. The latter accumulated over 46 million Spotify streams, with more to come.
Post Malone’s successful 2016 saw him sharing the stage with the likes of Justin Bieber on his sold-out Purpose Tour and Fetty Wap on his Welcome to the Zoo Tour. In addition to performing with the aforementioned global superstars, Post Malone also appeared on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel LIVE!
