Roky Erickson announces 2017 fall US tour

This fall, psychedelic rock pioneer Roky Erickson will be conducting a brief tour of the United States. The former 13th Floor Elevators frontman will be playing shows in Atlanta, Jersey City, Boston, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Chicago, St. Louis, New Orleans and New York City’s own Rough Trade. Additionally, the singer-songwriter will not be hitting the road alone. Echo Park-based doom boogie outfit Death Valley Girls will be opening for Erickson throughout his latest sojourn across the country.

In 1965, Erickson co-founded the 13th Floor Elevators, one of the best and most influential bands to come out of the garage rock revolution. After the group fell apart, Erickson embarked on a solo career that was frequently disrupted by brushes with the law and the performer’s mental health issues. Thankfully, Erickson has since gotten the help he needed and has been consistently releasing new music and touring since the early 2000s.
