The film adaptation of "A Wrinkle in Time" already has an outstanding cast, a passionate director, and a trailer that will make anyone want to disappear into the dreamy, but weird world. With all that under your belt, how exactly do you follow it up? Simple. You unveil the star-studded lineup for the film’s original soundtrack.
On Tuesday (Feb. 20), the film’s director, Ava DuVernay, took to Twitter to officially announce the artists who contributed new songs to the "A Wrinkle in Time" soundtrack. Leading the female-powered soundtrack is legendary singer Sade who has not released any new music since 2010’s Solider of Love. As per her tweet, DuVernay never imagined that the songstress would agree to contribute a song to the soundtrack, but like the true “goddess” that she is, Sade said yes.
“I never thought she’d say yes, but asked anyway,” DuVernay writes on the social media platform. “She was kind + giving. A goddess. We began a journey together that I’ll never forget. Proud to announce that Sade has created an original song for WRINKLE IN TIME. It’s entitled ‘Flower of the Universe.’ And it’s a dream come true.”
As if having Sade on the soundtrack wasn’t enough, DuVernay also announced that the album will also feature music from Demi Lovato, Sia, Chloe x Halle, Kehlani and the score for the film will be composed by "Game of Thrones" and "Westworld" composer Ramin Djawadi. In total, the record will feature six original tracks. Listen to samples of the new tracks here.
