The WNBA's Las Vegas Aces are ready for their first season in Sin City with a young roster full of talent, and season tickets to the Aces go on sale to the public at 10:00 am on February 8, right here on AXS.com. All home games will be played at the Mandalay Bay Events Center, and the regular season begins mid-May after a two-week preseason schedule.
Head Coach Bill Laimbeer is in his first year with the franchise, after previously coaching the Detroit Shock to three WNBA championships. Toss in Laimbeer's NBA playing pedigree—he was a member of the Detroit Pistons when they won two titles—and the Aces have secured one of the best coaches in the sport.
Typically, WNBA teams play a 34-game regular season from mid-May to early September, before the postseason begins later in September. That means season tickets for the Aces will feature 17 home games in Las Vegas. Currently, there are 12 teams in the league, six each in both the Eastern and Western conferences. However, the eight teams with the best records advance to the playoffs, regardless of conference affiliation.
The organization previously spent six seasons in Salt Lake City as the Utah Starzz (1997-2002) and 15 years in San Antonio as the Silver Stars (2003-2013) and then just the Stars (2014-2017). The franchise's best season came in 2008, when the Silver Stars lost to the Laimbeer-led Shock in the WNBA Finals. Last year, the Stars finished 8-26 and did not make the playoffs.
With Laimbeer in charge of this roster, though, things are looking up for the Aces. A playoff berth is a definite possibility this season, so you don't want to miss out on the best seats available at the Mandalay Bay Events Center. The season-ticket sale starts at 10:00 am Pacific Time online right here at AXS.com.
